Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko in Hanoi on April 1 to promote the implementation of the outcomes of his recent official visit to Russia, especially agreements aimed at ensuring energy security in the current context.
At the meeting, the Government leader expressed his satisfaction with the positive results of the recent official visit to Russia during which Russian leaders and people extended a warm and respectful welcome to the Prime Minister and his delegation, reflecting the traditional close ties between the people of the two countries.
The Prime Minister’s talks and meetings with President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, and other senior Russian leaders were conducted in a sincere and open atmosphere, contributing to strengthening political trust and promoting effective, substantive cooperation in many areas, especially economy–trade, energy–oil and gas, and science–technology.
The PM appreciated the Russian Embassy in Hanoi for closely coordinating with agencies of both countries to make thorough and careful preparations, contributing to the success of the visit.
He affirmed that Vietnam–Russia relations are longstanding, loyal, and time-tested, and expressed his desire to work with Russia to further concretise high-level agreements, making bilateral cooperation deeper and more effective.
To implement the outcomes of the visit, the Prime Minister requested the ambassador to continue closely coordinating with ministries, sectors, agencies, and organisations of both countries to carry out high-level agreements across all fields, bringing Vietnam–Russia relations to a new level - more effective and substantive.
In politics, both sides should promote and prepare for visits by high-ranking leaders, enhance exchanges at all levels through various channels, and prepare for the next session of the Intergovernmental Committee in 2026, he said.
In oil and gas energy, both sides need to urgently implement signed commitments and agreements, continuing the tradition of effective cooperation, especially in oil and gas exploration and exploitation in both countries, while expanding into new energy, renewable energy, and the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
In transport, PM Chinh suggested the ambassador urge relevant Russian authorities, companies, and corporations to soon organise working visits to Vietnam to survey and coordinate with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in implementing cooperation in urban railway design and construction, as well as connecting Vietnam–Russia intermodal railway routes.
Regarding other areas of cooperation, he said he had assigned ministries, sectors, and localities to proactively and promptly implement the outcomes of the visit.
Ambassador Gennady Bezdetko congratulated the successful outcomes of the Prime Minister’s visit to Russia, affirming that the discussions between the PM and President Putin, Prime Minister Mishustin, and senior Russian leaders were effective and substantive, creating momentum to promote bilateral relations across all fields.
The Russian diplomat agreed on the need to promptly implement the visit’s outcomes and affirmed his readiness to closely coordinate with Vietnamese and Russian agencies and organisations to advance cooperation in all areas, especially those emphasised by the Prime Minister./
